英単語のなかでeで終わる単語は通常、bike(バイク)やstrike(ストライク)のように最後の"e"を発音しないのに、なぜNike"ナイク"ではなく"ナイキ"となるのでしょうか?

ナイキはギリシャ神話に出てきた勝利の女神が由来で、ギリシア語では最後に現れる「e」はサイレントレターにならない為です。同様に、他のギリシャ語由来の名前であるChloe、Zoe、Phoebeのような「e」で終わる名前たちも、"クロエ","ゾーイ","フィービィー"のように最後のeを発音する必要があります。
Because Nike was the Greek goddess of victory (see Wikipedia) and final 'e's are not silent in Greek. Similarly, the final 'e' should be pronounced in the name Irene, as it is in other Greek-derived names like Chloe, Zoe and Phoebe.
